This amusement park, named after the garden that was the birthplace of Buddha, offers a lot of amusement for all kinds of people. Maintained by the Buddha Purnima Project Authority, that functions under the directives of the Government of Andhra Pradesh, the park was constructed in 1994. In 2007, it got bombed on 25 August 2007 which killed 44 people. It is famous for the monolithic statue of Lord Buddha and the musical fountains. Every evening there is a laser show where the fountains dance to the tune of bollywood songs and the story of the city is projected on a screen of water from the fountains. At the main entrance of the park, there is a large floral clock with brightly colored flowers of different shades. The major highlight of the park is the spectacular musical and dancing fountain and water cascade, provided with colorful lights. Every evening two shows are held at 7.15 p.m. and 8 p.m. The fountain which dance to the tunes of popular numbers from Hindi and Telugu films draws huge crowds. The visitors can also avail and enjoy the boating facilities provided at the nearby Hussain Sagar Lake. There are a number of eateries and a manmade waterfalls inside the Lumbini Park and also a jetty where one can take a boat ride to the Buddha statue. The boat ride takes about 10 minutes. .One can purchase a combined ticket costing around Rs 85 to the laser show, the boat ride, the entrance to the Lumbini Park and also the NTR Gardens There are two pleasure cruisers available for hire.
