How to Reach
Dudhsagar is set amidst breathtaking scenery overlooking
a steep, crescent-shaped head of a valley carpeted with pristine tropical
forest, that is only accessible by road or train.
Road : It can be reached by road from the National Highway
(NH-4A). All Interstate Busses halt at Mollem where the Park office is
located. You can take a local bus to Collem from the highway or from Ponda,
which is the nearest city. Route: Panaji-Old Goa-Ponda-Tiska-Mollem. (57
kms) Margao-Ponda-Tiska-Mollem (42 kms)
he Dudhsagar falls is easily accessible by a train journey
from Vasco or Margao. The train stops at Colllem in the Bhagwan Sanctuary
near Mollem before reaching Dudhsagar falls.
Train: The nearest Station to the falls is Collem (Kuhlem)
(South Western Railway). The route for rail to reach the falls from Goa
is Collem - Mollem (6 km) - Dudhsagar Falls. The other route is from Carambolim
(Karmali Railway Station - Konkan Railways). The route is Carambolim -
Old Goa - Ponda - Tiska- Mollem (total 50 km) - Dudhsagar Falls.
There are two trains a day that stop at Dudhsagar Station.
A special coach with a seating capacity of 108 is attached to Amaravati
Express (Vasco-da-Gama to Vijayawada). It leaves Vasco on every Saturday.
The train leaves Vasco at 6.50 a.m. and Margao at 7.15 a.m. to reach Dudhsagar
at 9.30 a.m.
A number of private operators offer special trips to
the Waterfalls. The Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) operated
tours and they have Dudhsagar Waterfalls as one of the tour stoppages.
A Dudhsagar Special tour by the GTDC on Saturdays and Sundays from Panaji
and Calangute.
The train journey from Vasco or Margao offers an excellent views. At
Collem, in the Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary near Mollem, there is a railway
station.
If driving, the best way to get to the falls is by a SUV or a Jeep drive
from the railway junction village of Colem. The path is recommended only
between January and May when the level of the water allows the jeep to
reach the base of the falls.
