How to reach Vasai Fort

One have to take small safety boats to go to this old fort from the Malvan through a narrow navigable channel between two smaller islands of Dhontara and Padmagad. It takes about 15 minutes to reach the Sindhudurg Fort jetty. There is even a guide to take you around inside. Mumbai–Malvan, 546 k.m. Kolhapur–Malvan, 160 k.m.

Since Malvan is a large town, getting there is not a problem. State transport and private buses ply from Mumbai, Ratanagiri, Kolhapur, Pune, and Panaji.

Air: Nearest airports are Dabolim International Airport (Goa) 80 km away and Chatrapati Shivaji International Airport (Mumbai) 344 km away.

Rail: Nearest railheads are Kudal and Sawantawdi, which are at a distance of over 25 kilometer and 35 kilometer respectively.
