Muzhappilangad in Kannur district, the drive-in-beach is one of the fastest developing tourist spot in Kerala. It is located 7 km from Thalasseri town and located parallel to National Highway 66 between Kannur and Thalasseri.

The beach, hailed as the largest drive in beach in Asia and India's only drive in beach, enables a drive through four kilometres on the seashore. The beach is about 5 km long and curves in a wide area providing a good view of Kannur on the north.

The clean and less crowded beach is ideal for sunbathing. The shores of the Muzhappilangad beach are lined with black boulders, which protects this beach from the currents.

This secluded place fringed with palm groves mostly remains unexplored and is a perfect place for relaxing. The beach is crowded on weekends but mostly empty during weekdays.

There is also an unpaved road through the coconut groves, leading to the beach.

The beach also offers nice landscape Photography. There is an entry fees of Rs. 20 to take the vehicle inside the beach.

From Muzhappilangad, one can view the beautiful island of Dharmadam or the Green Island, which is at a distance of 200 meters south of the beach. During low tide, one can just walk to the island from the beach.

The island is a main picnic spot. Sprawling over an area of 5 acres and surrounded by rivers and beaches, this beautiful island is covered with tall coconut palms and dense bushes. Earlier known as Dharmapattanam, it is also known by the names 'Dharmadam thuruth' or 'pacha thuruth' (green island). Dharmadam is believed to have been a Buddhist stronghold and Buddha images have been excavated from this place. Permission is required to enter this privately owned island. There are frequent boats to the island from Kannur and Thalassery.

The annual beach festival is celebrated here every year in the month of April which has gained popularity in the recent years. It is organized under the joint aegis of the Muzhappilangad Village Panchayat and the Muzhappilangad Service Co-operative Bank in association with the Tourism Department and the District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC).

It is one of the important tourist attraction in the district of Kannur in Kerala. During this festival, the youth usually try many driving stunts in cars like drifting and wheeling in bikes as this is a paradise for driving along the shore.
