A visitor to Mandvi is greeted by sights of Palaces,
beach, handicrafts and monuments. Among them Mandvi beach is the perfect
place where life is all about relaxation and rejuvenation of body and
mind. 6 km long stretch between Mandvi and Bhrabudi village, towards Mundra
port, it offers many options to entertain oneself by relaxing, swimming
and enjoying water sports. The beach also offers various water-sports
activities like water scooters, skiing, surfing, para sailing and speedboat
trips.
The beach is an uninterrupted and stunning stretch of curving beautiful white sand fringed by blue waters, with tall windmills on one side and an enchanting view of the sea in front. Recently, the state government took action for the promotion of Mandvi beach. Like in Goa, the government relaxing liquor norms and allowing private parties to set up bars on Mandvi beach. The water at Mandvi beach is perfect for swimming because the water is calm, the waves not too high and there are no undercurrents. It is safe and tourists of all age groups can enjoy the beach. Compared to other beaches it's water is too cold, therefore swimming is comfortable only when the sun is bright. Since this beach is not even crowded at peak season and there are no lifeguards, it’s best not to be too adventurous. The beach also offers enchanting sunset and sunrise views. Besides, the enjoyment in the beach, tourists can enjoy bird watching along the northern coast of the Gulf of Kutch including the flamingo-rich Mandvi creek. The beach also offers shopping, like handicrafts, silverware, shell-work, Kutchi embroideries, Bandhini tie-and-dye saris as well as block prints. Nearby attraction Mandvi Palace also known as Vijay Vilas Palace is one of the major tourist destination in Mandvi. 8 km from Mandvi, it is a summer palace built in 1929 by Maharao Vijayrajji. The Palace has its own 2 km long section of private beach maintained in an eco-friendly manner to preserve its pristine beauty. The palace has been the location for filming many Hindi films like LAGAAN, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam etc. Stands amidst in 450 acres of landscaped and beautifully gardens with water channels and marble fountains, it is noted for its traditional Rajasthani style architecture.
It is renowned for its central dome supported by pillars, the windows graced with colored glasses, the intricate and exquisite carvings, the bastions at the corners, exquisitely stone carved elements and the extended porch. The palace also has many several family portraits. There is a lift in the palace to take its visitors to the pavillion where one can enjoy the beauty of the sea. Time : 9 am to 5 pm.
