at Karapur is a luxurious wildlife resort which offers a great experience
to the tourists. Once the hunting lodge of the erstwhile Maharaja of Mysore,
the 100 and odd years old colonial style Lodge is today rated by the British
Tatler’s Travel Guide as one of the top 5 wildlife resorts in the
world. The last stretch of the 5 hr journey to the lodge from Bangalore
(236 km) is rough and is dotted with numerous ponds around which you can
spot the varied bird life. They offer early morning rides in a coracle(
a circular open boat made of bamboo and buffalo hide strung together with
coir) through the adjoining Kabini River.
