How to reach Dharamsala

Air : Nearest airport is at Gaggal 21 km south of Dharmsala. It is connected to Delhi on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays by Jagson Airlines. From Gaggal one can hire a taxi or travel by a bus to reach Dharamshala. There are only a few flights operate from here, so travelling by air to reach Dharamsala is not convenient.

Rail : Nearest railway station is Kangra Mandir at a distance of 22 km from Dharamsala. All trains won’t stop here. The other railhead is Pathankot (Chakki Bazaar), which is about 85 km away from Dharamsala. Pathakot is well connected to all major cities in India. From Pathankot Bus stand, one can get bus directly to Dharamshala.

Road : This is the best way to reach Dharamshala. The town is well connected to north India by road. Regular buses from Delhi, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Ambala and Amritsar run to and from Dharamshala. From Pathankot Bus stand, one can get bus directly to Dharamshala (about 3.5 hours). Also from ISBT Kashmere Gate, one can get direct buses to Dharamshala. For this one have to book tickets in advance.
