Shoghi is a pleasant suburb, 13 kms from Shimla didin Himachal Pradesh State. Set among greenish rhododendron and oakforests, it is an ideal tourist destination far away from the city chaos. The hill station rises in levels up the hill from a height of more than 5700 ft.

Situated on the national highway, it's pleasant weather and proximity to Delhi make it a popular weekend gateway for the people of Delhi and North regions. Compared to Shimla, Shoghi is more calm, no crowd, not yet fully commercialized and have clean surroundings. The hillstation characericised by hills, valleys and ravines.

It is renowned for fruit products, with the brand name Minchy’s Fruit Products and also famous for locally made pickles, juices, syrups and jellies. There are many dhabas (local name for food outlets) here. The sales outlet is at the northern end of the town at the junction of the main road and the road leads to the Tara Devi Temple.

Shoghi offers marvellous walks through fairy tale forests of deodar. One such path leads to the famous Tara Devi Temple, situated 11 km south of Shimla and about 4 kms from Shoghi. Situated at a height of 1851 meters above sea level, it offers a majestic view of the surrounding snow-clad Himalayan mountains on one side and view of Shimla. The temple can be reach is on the right side of the road, at the end of the town. Legends says that Tara Devi appeared to the Raja of Junga on the mountain and he built a temple for Tara Devi on that spot.

Built approximately 250 years ago, the temple remains heavily crowded during the festive season, i.e October and November. Besides this famous temple, Shoghi has some old temples scattered about its slopes.

There are marvellous opprtunities for trekking and camping in Shoghi. One can trek to to interesting routes into the surrounding valleys. Cool climate and calm atmosphere is making it an ideal camping place. There are many tourist camps in Shoghi which offer Swiss type tents with bathroom facility.

Bird watching is one activity one can do here while camping. One can visit a small beautiful village Anji in Shoghi. There is a Hanuman temple stands right on the edge of Anji.

Jakhoo Hill
It is the Shimlas highest point which offers excellent views of the city and surrounding valleys. On the Jakhu's summit, there is a Hanuman Temple. Surrounded by monkeys it is 2 Km from The Ridge near Christ Church. Situated at an altitude of 2455 mtr, the from here one can get the excellent views of sunrise, sunset and the surrounding areas. Jakhu hill is also famous for its trekking options.

Viceregal Lodge
Located on the Observatory Hills, Viceregal Lodge was build for British Viceroy Lord Dufferin who played a prominent part in its planning and building. Also known as Rashtrapati Niwas, it was formerly the residence of Lord Dufferin. The lodge also has a botanical garden and a cafe. Now it houses the Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS). Research scholars from different parts of the country and abroad meets here for debates and discussions.

Open 1000 - 1630. Entry fee: Rs 10/-. Only the entrance hall and gardens are open to the public.

Kurfi
